Giurgiulesti, Moldova

Giurgiulesti, MoldovaRiver

Giurgiulesti is a charming village in southern Moldova on the banks of the Danube. Here, you can enjoy traditional Moldovan architecture, a peaceful pace of life, and scenic views of vineyards, orchards, and rolling hills.

Note: It‘s a good idea to compare shore excursion costs between what your cruise line offers and options like Viator and GetYourGuide. They often provide lower prices and include customer reviews and ratings to help you choose the best option. They may also offer more more flexible cancellation or rescheduling policies than those available through your cruise line. However, while booking independently might give you more variety and potentially better rates, be mindful of your schedule - cruise line excursions are typically coordinated to match your ship‘s schedule with guaranteed pick-up and drop-off times.

Location & Transportation

Giurgiulesti is tucked away in the southern part of Moldova, right on the banks of the Danube. As Moldova’s only river port, it has a unique charm that you won’t find anywhere else. Most visitors arrive by river cruise, and once you’re on shore you can easily catch a local taxi or bus to explore the village and nearby attractions. Since the village is small, you might also consider a short ride over to Chisinau for more lodging or additional transportation options.

Nearby Lodging

While Giurgiulesti is a small village, there are a few local guesthouses and small hotels along the river. For more comfortable accommodations, I recommend considering options in Chisinau, which is only a short drive away and offers a wider range of choices.

Nearest Airport

The closest major airport is Chișinău International Airport (KIV), located about 70 kilometers from Giurgiulesti. Once you arrive in Chișinău, you can find a variety of transport options, from buses to taxis, to complete your journey.
