Probolinggo sits on the north coast of East Java, just a short 1.5 km walk south of its busy port. The harbor on the Java Sea is filled with brightly colored fishing vessels that give the area a lively and authentic local atmosphere. Although there aren’t conventional taxis, you’ll find plenty of becak (pedicabs) to take you into the heart of town for a very affordable fare of around Rp 50.000 (approximately US$5).
The port itself has modern berthing facilities including a 1 km finger jetty and a 173 m pier. For larger cruise ships, tenders are used to bring passengers on board.
