Location & Transportation
In Portofino, cruise ships cannot dock directly. Instead, you will be tendered ashore right in the town center. For larger ships, tendering often happens off the coast of Santa Margherita Ligure (just over two miles south) and then a shuttle bus brings guests into Portofino every 20 minutes. Keep in mind that in rough conditions, the tender operation might be canceled, with ships sometimes diverted to Genoa instead.
- Tender operations depend on weather conditions.
- A regular shuttle connects Santa Margherita Ligure with Portofino.
- If diverted, Genoa is the alternative port.
