Location & Transportation
Londonderry Port at Lisahally is situated on the east bank of the River Foyle at the southern end of Lough Foyle, near the village of Strathfoyle. As the United Kingdom’s most westerly port, it welcomes a variety of cruise vessels, including 30,000-ton ships. Often, passengers are tendered to shore. The port is about 7 miles (11 km) from the heart of Londonderry.
Though terminal facilities are modest, local authorities provide a welcoming atmosphere. For example, during your visit you may find a canvas sun shelter set up with potted plants where you can wait for the hourly shuttle bus that ferries passengers between the pier and central Derry near the Guildhall.
If you’re flying in, the nearest airport is the City of Derry Airport (often known as Eglinton Airport), located roughly 12 km from the port, with taxi services readily available for a smooth transfer.
