Liverpool, United KingdomNorthern Europe

Liverpool is a vibrant city known for its rich cultural heritage and history, the birthplace of The Beatles. With a convenient cruise terminal at Princes Dock, visitors can easily explore museums, waterfront attractions, lively shopping areas, and unique local events.

Note: It‘s a good idea to compare shore excursion costs between what your cruise line offers and options like Viator and GetYourGuide. They often provide lower prices and include customer reviews and ratings to help you choose the best option. They may also offer more more flexible cancellation or rescheduling policies than those available through your cruise line. However, while booking independently might give you more variety and potentially better rates, be mindful of your schedule - cruise line excursions are typically coordinated to match your ship‘s schedule with guaranteed pick-up and drop-off times.

Location & Transportation

Liverpool’s modern cruise terminal at Princes Dock has been welcoming visitors since its official opening in 2007, with a new permanent facility introduced in 2023. I love that the berth is just a 5–10 minute walk from the World Heritage City centre. The area around Pier Head is especially vibrant in the summer, with a small fair featuring rides and plenty of local energy. Just an 8-minute stroll further south is the beautifully restored Albert Dock, home to attractions like The Beatles Story Museum, the Mersey Maritime Museum, and a fantastic mix of restaurants and cafes. Don’t miss a spin on the Wheel of Liverpool, which offers great views of the city.

For a comfortable stay, Liverpool offers a wide range of hotels and guesthouses right in the city centre and near the waterfront. If you’re flying in, Liverpool John Lennon Airport is conveniently located about 7 miles from the centre, with taxis and shuttle services available to get you to your destination quickly.
