Kuda Bandos is a tender port located off the coast of Bandos Island – one of the 1,192 stunning coral islands that make up the Maldives. As a tender port, your cruise ship will drop you off at this idyllic, tropical oasis in the North Malé Atoll where you can soak up the sun and sea.
Getting here is part of the adventure. You’ll transfer from your larger vessel via a small tender boat. Kuda Bandos was for years an uninhabited picnic island, but since 2016 it has been home to the Malahini Kuda Bandos resort; the neighbouring Bandos Island is a short boat ride away if you’re looking to extend your stay.

The main gateway to the Maldives is Velana International Airport near Malé, about 7 km away. From the airport, transfers are typically arranged by your cruise line. The scenic boat ride from Malé to your tender port takes only around 15 minutes by speedboat and is part of the tropical experience.

Dining
Since the Malahini Kuda Bandos resort opened, dining on the island is easier than it once was—there’s a main restaurant and a beach bar serving food and drinks through the day. I still love the simple pleasure of a beach barbeque if your cruise offers one. For more variety, a short excursion to nearby islands like Bandos will give you a chance to sample fresh Maldivian seafood and tropical cuisine at resort restaurants.
